Techathalon 2009 Is Coming to Washington!
Get
ready for the 2009 edition of the Techathalon program! This year's event
is scheduled for Saturday, April 25th, 2009. The event will be hosted by
the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County at the Rainier Vista Club & Teen
Center (pictured right). The committee is
hard at work planning all of the curriculum for the program and all of
the exciting and immersive activities for the day of the event.

Who We Are

The professional association of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America executives in Washington State including staff membership of our military partners

A 501 c 3 non – profit corporation in the State of Washington

Unites all the independently operating Boys & Girls Clubs in the State of Washington

Provides a mechanism for joint decision making, communication, exchange of ideas and cooperative action among Boys & Girls Clubs in the State of Washington

Promotes public awareness of youth development and the challenges facing today’s youth

Developing and expanding quality youth development throughout Washington State

Promoting and strengthening Boys & Girls Clubs’ relationships with public and private agencies throughout Washington State

Provides a mechanism for distribution of raised funds to member clubs
What We Do

The Association strives to advance the BGCA mission and programs in local communities, and to provide support and development

Promotes and administers the Washington State “Youth of the Year” program
-
Promotes and administers the Governors “Community Service Scholarship” awarded annually at the Governors Youth of the Year reception
-
Offer BGCA programs at over 130 separate locations, including Clubhouses, Native lands, public housing, school sites, and community centers
-
Serve over 100,000 Washington state youth in grades K – 12 through annual membership and benefits an additional 94,000 youth through outreach services in an additional 100 outreach sites

Offer dedicated youth facilities that are open daily, staffed by professionals, and provide proven programs that provide positive outcomes

Clubs and programs are available and affordable to all youth; average annual membership cost to join the Boys & Girls Club is about $20 per year, with scholarships available. The total cost to serve each child is approximately $500 per year, hence the need for fundraising, grant development, and contracts for service on local, county and state levels
