Techathalon 2009
Seattle, WA - Saturday, April 25,
2009
|
From cell phones to digital cameras, photo radar to
desktop computers, more than ever technology has become an integral
part of our everyday lives. And, like most things, the absolute best
way to get a grasp of it, is to EXPLORE IT. That's exactly what
Techathalon allows its participants to do.
Through
FUN, hands-on, team-based competitions, participants in Techathalon
receive the confidence to command the technology tools shaping our
world while showcasing their budding talents and accomplishments.
But the best part about Techathalon is the TEAMWORK and
COMMUNICATION skills these young people learn while working together
to master skills that will forever make a difference in their lives.
Over 250 youth descended upon the new Boys & Girls
Club in Seattle for a day focused on enhancing STEM skills.
Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math
form important foundations of our learning landscape. Young
people who are engaged in meaningful STEM activities during their
K-12 education are better prepared to face the demands of college
and the global workforce.
Special thanks to Sponsors NPCE, The Seattle Seahawks
and Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, as well as Ebby Sabbagh, and
the Planning Committee for making this wonderful event possible.
