Washington State Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals - Evergreen Chapter

WHY AN ASSOCIATION FOR BOYS & GIRLS CLUB PROFESSIONALS?

The professional leadership of WEBGCP is interested in promoting effective personnel and practices throughout the Boys & Girls Club movement. This will insure the best possible leadership for Boys & Girls Clubs and strengthen the entire movement. We, as professionals are supportive of one another and firmly believe that what is good for the Boys & Girls Clubs is also good for our professionals. This does not rule out differences of opinion. Always being in total agreement is not healthy.

WEBGCP has four (4) officers from Washington State Boys & Girls Clubs. We have three standing committees: Membership, Program and Awards & Recognition. 

WEBGCP is representing the professional to provide basic input for the total Boys & Girls Club movement. We are interested in basic issues and concerns and, as a group, submit proposals to the ABGCP Board of Directors.

As a member of WEBGCP, you'll join other Boys & Girls Club professionals from Washington state. You'll enjoy the support of others dedicated to the advancement of the profession and you'll benefit from their experiences. You'll also share information about the latest trends in youth work.

Membership means getting the information you need, the networking you want and the educational opportunities you require to advance in your career.

DIRECT BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

  • Education and training are offered through chapter-sponsored programs. Job opportunities are announced at each chapter meeting.

  • Through WEBGCP Chapter meetings and General Assembly, each member has a voice and an opportunity to make a contribution for developing and strengthening our association.

  • There will be opportunities to earn Academy Credits from Boys & Girls Clubs of America through training functions.

  • Professionals will have the opportunity to participate in the planning and coordination of the Washington State Youth of the Year event.

  • There will be opportunities to earn scholarships for training and conferences for those recognized through the Awards and Recognition Program.

INDIRECT BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

  • You'll have opportunities to participate in committees and task forces including awards, membership, and program.

The awards are:

  • Professional of the Year Award

  • Executive of the Year Award

  • Contribution to the Profession Award

TYPES OF MEMBERS & DUES

  1. EXECUTIVE / MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL - professionally employed on a full-time basis in a club affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Responsible for providing overall direction to the organization or utilizing the resources of the organization to provide services to members (Executive Director, President, CEO, COO, Associate Executive Director, Director of Operations, and National Staff). Dues: $40.00

  2. MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL - Professionally employed on a full-time basis and affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Responsible for utilizing the resources of the organization to provide services to members (Unit Director, Area Director, Branch Manager, and Program Director who supervise other full-time professionals). Dues: $20.00

  3. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL - Professionally employed on a full-time basis as above. Responsible for providing daily programs, services and activities for Club members (Program Director, Health & Physical Education Director, Social Recreation Director, Guidance Director, Youth Development Specialist, Outreach Director, etc.). Dues: $20.00

RECOGNITION

WEBGCP has a number of ways it recognizes professionals in the Boys & Girls Club movement. The purpose being to:

  1. Recognize members who have made a significant contribution to the profession; or in promoting and advancing the profession over past years.

  2. Encourage professionals to reach higher in contributing to the profession and promote the cause of Boys & Girls Club work.

  3. Publicize outstanding achievements of WEBGCP members.

OFFICERS

The officers are:

Chairman - David L. Solo, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue 
Vice-Chairman - Rick Guild, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound
Secretary - Jon Evans, Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County
Treasurer - Bill Dalziel, Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County

The duties of the officers shall be those as are usual in such organizations.

COMMITTEES

While each chapter may differ, the following standing committees are suggested:

  1. MEMBERSHIP - Coordinates efforts with Regional Chapter Chairman (who is member of ABGCP's Membership Committee) in recruiting new members; provides orientation; reviews attendance and participation of existing members.

  2. PROGRAM - Plan and conduct programs and trainings that will challenge, inspire and create a climate responsive to the needs of the membership.

  3. AWARDS & RECOGNITION - Develop the process for submission of awards and organize recognition event.
